Mission

The mission of the R.I.S.E. Coalition of Western Maryland is to serve, elevate and empower the immigrant community in Western Maryland. The Coalition will accomplish this by helping to further unite current efforts on the ground amongst diverse immigrant communities and their allied neighbors.

 

Goals

  • Help create sanctuary spaces where vulnerable people feel safe; and shifting power/resources to impacted communities.

  • Identify and provide resources requested by immigrant neighbors.

  • It is our responsibility to ensure that immigrant voices are at the forefront of this movement. We will only be successful by following their lead and protecting their agency.

Vision

  • A Western Maryland free of xenophobic and racist policies

  • A Western Maryland with enough pro-bono/low-cost legal and social services to accommodate its growing immigrant population

  • A Western Maryland where immigrants feel safe and welcome in the community

  • A Western Maryland where immigrants feel confident that their concerns will be heard and rapidly attended to
